After presenting our music video to the audience at the showcase we wanted to get some face-to-face feedback from them. We asked them a variety of questions which you will see their responses to in the video below:

My Own Magazine Poster Analysis

My own digipak analysis

Final Digipak

Digipak first draft

Below is the first draft for my digipak. I originally wanted the font for the artist name and album title to be red however it is quite hard to read a dark red colour against a black background. This is what prompted me to change the colour of my font to white. In addition after analysing a few more existing digipaks I noticed that many of them display a small record label logo, so I decided to create my own and include it on my digipak on both the back and inside on the CD. As well as having the record label logo on the CD I made the decision to include the disc logo as a I noticed a lot of existing products do so.

Evaluation Time

Now our music video, digipak and magazine advert is finished it means its now the evaluation time! Here are the 4 questions that specification suggests we address:
  1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
  2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?
  3. What did you learn from your audience feedback?
  4.  How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Below is a variety of ways I could present my evaluation:
  • Prezi
  • Powerpoint
  • Voice over
  • iMovie/ Vlog
  • Picture in Picture
  • Powtoon
  • Slideshare

Digipak Analysis: The 1975

Digipak Font Choice

When it came to choosing a font for our digipak none of the custom fonts on Microsoft Powerpoints appealed to us so we used the website dafont.com to search for fonts. Below are a few of the fonts that we really liked:

We decided to go with the font below by Lucas Moriceau. Thankfully this font was free for personal use so we avoided any possible copyright issues. Overall we all decided to use this font as we believed the font would work well for the title on the digipak, music video and magazine advert which shows synergy across all 3 of the products.

First Draft
Final Digipak
Since my first draft I have made a few more changes to my advert. The first being I made the font more white whereas before it was quite grey, this makes the font stand out more and make it easier to read. After analysing more existing magazine adverts I noticed that a few of them have an 'available on iTunes' logo on to show synergy and convergence so I decided to add it to my advert. In addition i added the artists website as it makes it more personal and allows the audience access to more of the artists products and information for upcoming events.

Intertextuality

Intertextuality is the shaping of a text's meaning by another text. In our music video we made 3 different intertextual references:

1) The hooded figure in our video vs -A in Pretty Little Liars

2) The narrative of the 'Cigarette Daydreams' video is similar as the protagonist is shown to have an inner conflict

3)The use of mirrors to show inner conflicts in the Black Swan

Digipak front cover

Today we all met up in school to try and get the front cover of our digipak finalised. Originally we attempted to use Adobe Photoshop but we didnt really like it as we thought it was too complicated, so once we had edited our photo we moved it over to Mircosoft Powerpoint (a software we were extremely familiar with) to finish the task. In order to remove the background off of one of our images we used this website;http://editphotosforfree.com/photoapps/remove-background-from-image-online/
We wasn't really satisfied with the outcome as it didn't remove the background well and ended up leaving us with many white specs. However we thought it was easiest to keep alternating between Photoshop and Microsoft Powerpoint.

Below is an image of the template we used:
