ZAYN - PILLOWTALK

I really loved this music video especially the wide range of effects used throughout, making it visually appealing. The video include both coloured shots as well as monochrome shots which was something we originally wanted to do. Many of the conventions of this music video applies to that of an indie music video, even though its from the pop genre.

I particularly love these shots as it captures a shot of both the male and female through a 'broken glass/ mirror'. This effect has a variety of symbolisms which could in essence be applied to our music video.

This shot in particular stuck out to me as he has a distorted image of a reflection in water. From our research we found that water was a common convention of indie music videos. In the shot there appears to be 3 different images of her face as it could suggest there is different sides to her, this is something we wish to portray in our video and this inspires us to do something similar to this.

Although the shot is quite dark with a blac and white effect there appears to be a tinge of red. I would really love to try a incorporate this effect to our video as it would break up the constant monochrome shots without showing too much colour.

Filming Day 6

Today, we gathered some more shots from our third location. We filmed using another mirror to highlight 'the notion of looking' in our video. In addition I lip synced to the whole song in the all the locations to ensure we have enough footage and a wide variety of it.

For the shots we gathered in the corner, we used low key lighting. We shone the torch on 2 phones from different angles to emphasise the lyric of 'dancing in the shadows'. Here's a still from one of the shots:
