Age Rating on Music Videos


















After reading an article published by the Guardian online, it has brought to my attention the amount of explicit content that children are exposed to whether it be sexual, verbal or the glorification of drug use. This highly inappropriate content that children have easy access to on a daily basis through youtube, vevo and even on tv. As sociologist Sue Palmer said that access to content like this intoxicates childhood which leads to the disappearance of childhood innocence. Themes such as drug use, sexual content and violence are glamorised and are all common in todays contemporary society.

When it comes to planning and filming our music video I would like to try and avoid overly sexual and violent scenes to enable our video to be open for all audiences to enjoy if they wish.

This video would be an example of a rating of age 18 as it  glorifies drug use, violence and overly sexualises women:
